May I introduce myself?

May I introduce myself?

I have been striving to find a way to add value to the lives of those who cross my path on a daily basis. It seems most of us are trying so hard to get to the finish line of life that we forget to look up and introduce ourselves to our neighbors. Today, I have decided to say “hello,” and may I introduce myself?

I am Catholic — if no one else has said it yet let me be the first to welcome you to the Easter season. This is the lens I see life through and every day I try to bring JOY, humility, and cheerfulness to those I meet. I fail more than I succeed in this endeavor, but those successes far outweigh my many failings.

My wife is the most amazing person I have ever met (I really hope she reads this). With her radiant smile she raises our three children, boys at that, and still finds a way to improve the lives of people by ensuring their pets are cared for on a deeply personal level.

So the question becomes how do you touch peoples lives and add value? My current answer is to share my life and experiences with you. My hope is that by sharing my few successes, and failures too numerous to count, your life may be better today than it was yesterday. Or perhaps, just slightly better now than it was before you graciously gave me your time and allowed me to be a part of your life.

My first confession will be to tell you none of the information I will share is original.  The possible exception will be of sharing how I tried to incorporate this knowledge into my own life and the success or failures that have come about. I read so often I wonder if I will ever have another original thought.

Did I mention I am a veterinarian? My wife is a veterinarian too. This leads to our house being anything but normal, but I thank God for this because if you have looked around lately NORMAL is not working anymore. Glancing at the front page of any newspaper or news feed validates this point.

If you have stayed with me this long THANK YOU. My hope is to continue to add value with every future discussion.
